The 8th International Conference on Power and Energy Applications (ICPEA 2025), jointly with the inaugural IEEE PCCC Yangtze River Delta Forum and the 30th Anniversary Forum of Distribution Automation Practice in China, was grandly opened in Shanghai on October 24, 2025. The conference was co-organized by Shanghai Jiao Tong University, IEEE, IEEE PES, and IEEE PCCC. The conference adopted a hybrid format (online + onsite), bringing together nearly 240 experts, scholars, and researchers from China, Australia, France, South Korea, the United Kingdom, Thailand, the Philippines, Indonesia, and other countries and regions.
At the opening ceremony, Zhang Yining, Secretary General of IEEE PCCC, and Prof. Yutian Liu, Chair of IEEE PES Jinan Chapter and Shandong University, delivered speeches. During his opening remarks, Mr. Zhang emphasized that the global energy transition is at a critical stage, and the field of power and energy applications is facing a new development landscape characterized by low-carbonization, intelligence, and synergy. Prof. Liu noted in his welcome speech that this conference, in conjunction with the IEEE PCCC Yangtze River Delta Forum and the 30th Anniversary Forum of Distribution Automation Practice in China, holds great significance in advancing global energy technology progress and deepening industry-academia-research collaborative innovation. The opening ceremony was hosted by Prof. Dong Liu, Conference Chair and Shanghai Jiao Tong University.

In addition to the keynote speeches and special forums, the conference featured 6 thematic sessions, 4 parallel sessions, 3 online sessions, and 4 poster presentations, systematically presenting the latest research achievements and technological advances in the field of power and energy applications. Experts and scholars shared cutting-edge findings on topics such as "high-penetration renewable energy source-grid-load-storage coordination," "advanced DC transmission technologies," and "power equipment risk perception."
During the conference, the organizing committee selected and presented multiple awards including "Best Paper Award," "Best Student Paper Award," and "Best Organization Award," recognizing experts, scholars, and young talents who have made outstanding contributions to the field of power and energy applications research.
